The CCLTRG is also working at the state level to ensure fire hardened homes become the new standard in homes built in and around forested areas in Oregon.
A fire hardened home includes building materials that allow it to be resilient for 30 minutes of a wildfire burn. Some example elements are:
- hardy plank siding
- additional vents with specific coverings in the foundation and eaves
- 30 feet of defensible space
- metal roofing
